OUR TEAM
Hundreds of committed and determined people across Canada provide over 15,000 hours of service every year to bring programming to our most vulnerable youth. From our weekly volunteers to the founding members of the board, HEROS participants are able to learn, grow and succeed because of their support.
Our Volunteers
HEROS is grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who bring our programs to communities across the country every week. HEROS volunteers range from business professionals, doctors, college students and self-proclaimed hockey moms. Each volunteer brings their unique personality, background and skill to our HEROS family.

Our Staff
Norm Flynn, Founder and President
Norm former WHL and university player has dedicated himself to teaching hockey, life and social skills to Canada’s at-risk youth for the last two decades. Norm was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg – a tough, working-class neighbourhood. With the help of neighbours and family friends, he was able to play hockey at a young age and the game gave him a healthy outlet to focus his energy and grow his passion. Norm continues to dedicate his efforts to empowering at-risk youth both on and off of the ice, a commitment which was recognized by The Government of Canada through Her Majesty, The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012.
Kevin Hodgson, Executive Director
From gear to volunteers, Kevin makes sure our participants receive top-notch treatment and have the best experience possible. His experience in both social services and the hockey industry play a key role in his position at HEROS. He has worked in the social services field since 1997 in a number of programs that serve children, youth and families. Kevin joined HEROS in 2006 playing an integral role in the expansion of HEROS into Alberta.
Ambassadors
