Well, the holiday season is upon us once again. At One Million Skates we are happy to be a part of a hockey family that includes our fantastic contributors, our leagues, and HEROS Hockey. This month, we’ll share stories of hockey and the holidays, celebrating with our families, with tips and tricks for staying organized and healthy leading up to the big day!
Kicking off the holiday season, we are reminded that this time of year can cause Grinch-like behaviour and consumerism at its worse and we sometimes lose the heartwarming meaning of the season and the message that giving really is better than receiving.
Tuesday December 3rd is Canada’s first GivingTuesday – “the ‘Opening day of the giving season,’ it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others”.
As our goal at One Million Skates is to engage all hockey players, and increase the access to this great sport, we are proud to support Hockey Education Reaching Out Society (HEROS), and their participation in Giving Tuesday.
If you are fortunate enough to enjoy the game of hockey, please consider the thousands of young people in Canada who do not have the financial access or community and family support to play Canada’s game. Please visit www.oldsite.heroshockey.com for more information, or click here to donate.
Spread the word and share your gift through Social Media @OMShockey and #GivingTuesdayCa
May the giving season begin!
